The CBNRM Learning Institute supports this approach as an integral component of poverty alleviation, sustainable livelihoods and resource management, conservation, and decentralization policies and strategies of the Royal Government of Cambodia. It does this through building and strengthening links to locally based approaches, empowering local communities to participate actively in the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources through Community Forestry (CF), Community Fisheries (CFish), Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP), Community Based Eco-Tourism (CBET) and Community Protected Areas Management (CPA).
